The Colorado Rockies road woes keep building, and their standing in the National League West keeps slipping. The Rox dropped a 4-3 decision to the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday afternoon, their eighth loss in ten games on the road since the All-Star Break. Colorado led 3-2 thanks to a Ryan Spilborghs 2-run homer, but the Phillies scored twice in the seventh inning, with the go-ahead run scoring on a wild pitch. The Rockies now sit in fourth place in the West, 7 and a half games back of first place San Diego. The road trip from hell concludes this afternoon in Philadelphia as the Rox try and avoid their first sweep of the season. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with pregame coverage at 11:30 and the first pitch at 12:05.

The Big 10 Conference meetings in Chicago take place early next month, and while Nebraska's seat at the conference's table won't be open to them until 2011, athletic director Dr. Tom Osborne plans to travel to the Windy City to lend his voice to the proceedings. Although Nebraska won't have an official vote in any matters brought forward at this year's meetings, Osborne still wants to be present and part of important discussions relating to the future of the conference, particularly regarding scheduling in all sports, the creation of two six-team divisions in football, and the possible sites for a conference championship football game. Nebraska does not become an official voting member of the Big 10 until July 1st, 2011.
